DRYING BAY LAUREL LEAVES (BAY LEAVES)

MY BAY LAUREL PLANT (BAY LEAVES)

I finally got around to drying my Bay Leaves yesterday. I only had 2 store bought McCormick Bay Leaves remaining so I knew that I needed to do this sooner or later. Also, the fresh leaves were the right size and I didn't want them to get any bigger.

Last night, the oven was already cooling because I just made Burrito Pie for dinner. First, I picked and washed the Bay Leaves. I then layed the leaves on a baking sheet between 2 paper towels. The next day, I had crispy Bay Leaves ready for storing.

I've never dried herbs before and this is my first time to have and dry Bay Leaves. I know I could have dried them upside down but I wanted to see the results using the oven. Also, it made the house smell so good all night long.

Of course I tasted the original McCormick Bay Beaves that I had compared to the freshly dried Bay Leaves. I would have to say my fresh dried Bay Leaves tasted so much better, smelled stronger, and was crispier than the store bought Bay Leaves.

3 stars store bought. 5 stars homemade. I love fresh herbs don't you?

About Me

Hello and welcome to my world. My name is Josephine. I am 26 years old with 2 kidlets named Josceline (4 years old) and Lindsay (18 months old). I am a US Army veteran, a SAHM, and a military wife. As previously stated, I LOVE to cook anything and everything. I love to cook fruits and veggies that come straight of my garden. I have a small garden in my yard but it is packed with almost anything you could think of. I also have a greenhouse to garden in during the cold winter months. I started to blog on Blogger so my Allrecipes blogs would look better. I wanted my AR (Allrecipes) pictures to stand out so this is why I'm here.
